Nylon chips are flaky granulated products obtained by the dicing method due to their low melt strength in the production of nylon. Nylon is the trade name of polyamide fiber, also known as Nylon. The English name Polyamide (referred to as PA), its basic composition is an aliphatic polyamide connected by amide bonds—[NHCO]—. is an important synthetic fiber.

Depending on the number of carbon atoms of the diamine and dibasic acid used, or the number of carbon atoms contained in the polycondensation or ring-opening unit structure, different nylon products can be obtained, which are distinguished by the subsequent numbers. Such as nylon 6, nylon 66, nylon 610 and so on.
The melt strength of the crystalline polymer resin is very low, so it cannot be pelletized, and it can only be heated under water or air-cooled. The resulting particles are in the form of flakes, called slices. The slices obtained from nylon as raw materials are nylon slices. Such as polyamide 6 chips, commonly known as nylon 6 chips, nylon 6 chips. Nylon 6 slices are usually white columnar granules with a melting point of 210-220 °C and a decomposition temperature of about 300 °C. It is soluble in phenol and hot concentrated sulfuric acid, and has excellent electrical insulation performance, good alkali resistance and corrosion resistance. Nylon is the fiber with the best wear resistance among synthetic fibers.
Nylon chips should be stored in a cool and dry place, avoid sunlight, rain and moisture, and the packaging should not be damaged during transportation.
Advantage
with high strength
Has good impact resistance
Has high heat resistance
Wear-resistant and self-lubricating
Excellent chemical resistance
Has excellent flow processability
Has excellent barrier function
Has high chemical activity
Shortcoming
Strong water absorption
Poor product dimensional stability
Most nylon (nylon) has poor low temperature toughness
Classification
At present, the main categories of nylon chips in China's domestic market (by use):
1. Fiber grade chips can be used to spin civilian silk, making underwear, socks, shirts, etc.;
2. Engineering plastic grade slices can be used to produce gears, casings, hoses, oil-resistant containers, cable sheaths, and equipment parts of the textile industry for precision machines.
3. Film grade slices can be used in packaging industry, such as food packaging, medical packaging, etc.
4. Nylon composite materials, including impact-resistant nylon, reinforced high-temperature nylon, etc., are used to make appliances with special needs, such as reinforced high-temperature nylon can be used to make impact drills, lawn mowers, etc.
