Purpose
1 Octanol is mainly used to make phthalates and aliphatic dibasic acid ester plasticizers such as dioctyl phthalate, dioctyl azelaate and dioctyl sebacate, etc. It is used as the main plasticizer of plastics and cold-resistant auxiliary plasticizer, defoamer, dispersant, mineral processing agent and petroleum filler. It is also used in printing and dyeing, paint, film and so on.
2. Mainly used in the production of plasticizers, extractants, stabilizers, and intermediates for solvents and fragrances. In the field of plasticizers, octanol generally refers to 2-ethyl ethanol, which is a one-million-ton bulk raw material and is far more valuable than n-octanol in industry. Octanol itself is also used as a fragrance, blending rose, lily and other floral fragrances, as a soap fragrance. This product is an edible spice that is allowed to be used in my country's GB2760-86. Mainly used to prepare coconut, pineapple, peach, chocolate and citrus flavors, used as surfactants, solvents, defoaming agents, industrial additives, etc.
chemical properties
Colorless oily liquid. Soluble in 5 volumes of 50% ethanol or 3 volumes of 60% ethanol and oils, acid value <1.0. It has a dry sweet and sharp waxy aroma, with citrus, orange peel and rose-like aromas, like the creamy base of parsnips, and the fragrance is not long. And oily fruity, sweet and slightly grassy.
